Vintage Mary Vaux Walcott Botanical Print - Plate 373 Western Yarrow + Reverse (Plate 374): New England Aster(Symphyotrichum novae-angliae)

This is an authentic, original bookplate removed from a 1953 edition of Wild Flowers of America, published by Crown Publishers. The artwork is based on the renowned 1920s watercolors by Mary Vaux Walcott, often celebrated as the "Audubon of Botany" for her meticulous detail.
  • Front (Plate 373): Western Yarrow (Achillea lanulosa). A beautiful depiction of the hardy wildflower with its signature clusters of white-to-yellowish florets and feathery, fern-like foliage.
  • Reverse (Plate 374): New England Aster(Symphyotrichum novae-angliae). The illustration is rendered in a classic scientific style, showing a central stalk with clusters of vibrant purple flower heads and prominent yellow centers. Detailed green foliage with pointed leaves surrounds the blooms, characteristic of the species. At the bottom of the cream-colored paper, the text identifies the piece as "Plate 374" and provides both the common and Latin names, "New England Aster - Aster novae-angliae."
  • Artist: Mary Vaux Walcott (initialed "MVW" in the plate).
  • Paper Stock: Printed on quality, heavy-weight buff paper with a matte finish.
