During this era, blue-and-white porcelain from the Nanking region of China was highly prized across global trade networks, prompting skilled Middle Eastern artisans to create high-quality copies to satisfy local demand.

Because Persian potters did not have access to the materials required for true hard-paste porcelain, they utilized a traditional stonepaste or earthenware body, resulting in the charmingly thick, crackled glaze visible on the reverse side.
