This vintage botanical print depicts Lathyrus sylvestris, commonly known as the flat pea or narrow-leaved everlasting-pea. It is an authentic chromolithograph from Book Plate 317 of the renowned Scandinavian work Bilder ur Nordens Flora (Pictures of Northern Flora), illustrated by Swedish botanist and professor Carl Axel Magnus Lindman (1856–1928). Based on the foundational 19th-century copperplate engravings of Johan Wilhelm Palmstruch, Lindman’s artwork is highly regarded for its precision and vibrant coloration. The illustration meticulously details the plant's distinctive physical morphology, including its winged climbing stems, paired lanceolate leaflets, pinkish-cream blossoms, and characteristic flat seed pod with small rounded seeds.
